Joseph Joseph
"Joseph Joseph" is a lively piece rooted in the Yiddish song "Yosel," composed by Nellie Casman and Samuel Steinberg in 1923. The Andrews Sisters popularized it in 1938 with their recording, featuring lyrics by Sammy Cahn and Saul Chaplin. In the gypsy jazz scene, Joseph Reinhardt, the younger brother of Django Reinhardt, made significant contributions. As a rhythm guitarist in Django's Quintette du Hot Club de France, Joseph's playing was integral to their sound. He also led his own ensemble, the Joseph Reinhardt Quintet, which performed "Joseph Joseph," adding their unique interpretation to the piece.
