"How High the Moon" is a jazz standard composed by Morgan Lewis with lyrics by Nancy Hamilton in 1940. Originally written for the Broadway revue Two for the Show, the song quickly became a favorite among jazz musicians and has been covered countless times. It is also a popular standard in gypsy jazz, where brilliant guitar work, intricate improvisation and vibrant swing make it a highlight of the repertoire.
